life is about appreciating the treasures you already own looking beyond flaws counting your blessings and not envying the supposedly greener grass on the other side that's precisely why i love my life
i've been selfish lately running away from things tho i know that some of my friends need me i didnt stay to be there for them BUT im recharged now! hear me MOO!
( i only sing happy tunes in my head )

delicate
seems like my decision to stay at home this week caused qt a hoo-ha everyone thinks i either quarrelled with my roomie (no shin, i still love you!) , am troubled or stressed. it's probly my signs of aging that's reflecting on my face cries! i dont want to look haggard but i'm fine really :D thanks for your concern guys!
like i've said, feigning ignorance doesnt solve anything seems like noone can really understand you cause you never give them a chance to hopefully, my apology is more sincere now
friendships, like all other relationships, are so delicate
on a lighter note, today i discovered how my clumsiness can lead to disasters i was hopping around the room after morning lesson, trying to wake shin up when what seemed to be like my unaware arm (or my disobedient bag?) swung and hit the fan, sending it rocking violently on the floor one of its blades broke off and my fan's was pronounced dead till now, i dont have the slightest clue to what happened it all occurred too fast

star-crossed
this entry is for you
i was supposed to write about how happy hairspray made me, (you can obviously tell from my hyeena-like laughters throughout the entire show and from the way i swoon over handsome zac efron it's a big transformation from him in high school musical okie) how nice hot choc from chocz is, how i screwed up my morning and how i still like nights, lights, drizzles and stairs.
BUT, all these aside. a more impt issue has to be dealt with. if you hadnt voiced it out today, i wouldnt have guessed how insensitive i have been it's not at all petty on your part i am truly sorry for being so absorbed with my own emotions, wallowing in self-pity all these while such that i failed to notice how you feel at certain times i was too pre-occupied but you know how much those stuff has affected me cause you do understand me well so i hope you know how much i value our friendship, how much i really appreciate everything you've done for me incl your very presence in my life it's definitely not embarrassment frankly, that has never crossed my mind it's more of the implications i dont want to cause any more hurt to stickyrice should he chance upon any of my accts and you should know how diff it is to help keep certain things a secret esp when everyone starts questioning i feel that not everything has to be explicitly stated cause some things dont need confirmation from the rest of the world. it's understood betw us how much fun we derive from being silly. am i being selfish or thinking too much to consider all these factors?
then again, i never thought you would feel unappreciated maybe because i never told you verbally before but i do treasure our friendship alot alot and that's why i give you small gifts, exchange pc, do sillythings together and want to find out every side of you to build a stronger bond and to teach you to trust though you still try so hard to hide yourself it's all but a facade
if we were all books, i must be the easiest read since im sucha simpleton you were actually quite right with your guess i should think that this strategy's gonna work and i'll see improvement soon
star-crossed that's the word that keeps re-appearing in my head since a long time ago
whatever it is, i still have the time to make up for everything you will have to allow me to help
sometimes, it's the unspeakable that devours us

sweet home
having decided on staying home this entire week, i start to envision myself having a too slack life now that im part of def. heh it feels really good (for now) to be this free and i especially like the idea of being home we even had the time to head to the lib to mug!!! LOL. yes yes i know it's only the 4th week! learn from me, guys :D be a MUGGER!
thanks steph for being concerned! im happy as a bee *loves and kisses* looking forward to another lunch chat babe
cant wait for hairspray and malay class tom! seems like this week's gonna be a real good one for recuperation, catching my breath and accompanying mummy since daddy starts to rest as early as 9pm these days he's seemingly less fit than before getting tired more easily he used to complain that im really weak cause my fingers get frozen so easily now it's his that turns cold easily i still like holding daddy's warm hands
monday has treated me well :) and i've decided that i will learn to be less self-absorbed in other areas cause blogging has to be about my life and not gossips or comments about another person for starters, i need to work on being less ignorant
fact of the day: When a shrimp is first born, it is male, and it gradually evolves to female as it matures.
amazing isnt it! but how do you tell male shrimps from female ones anw?
this leads me to think about certain issues i know how these things keep coming back to us and how much we've argued over them again and again i dunno how i linked to that but yea there's no right or wrong ans i think i will never completely understand i just know that a true friend is there to support and matter-of-factly you know i'll be there :)

the dust
it's been so many days this entry will be very very longgg so there's no facts for today
1. let's start with friday night it was supposed to be mugging day but as expected, we did everything else but studying and bestie even stayed over
my best that was to preempt dnd but we didnt have a chance to upload the photos
staying-overs are usually about heart-to-heart talks and friday night's was one of our best we talked about what have been in our heads for so long, and how diff some things are but we just have to let time take over the healing we both sought comfort in that we could understand how each other felt and thought at any point of time i'll let it settle with the dust it shouldnt be too difficult
2. saturday morning was a mad rush to club rainbow! fantastic people we met new opportunities to discover ourselves (:
after some quick shopping for neccessities, we headed home. my family invaded my comp and looked through my photos it was as if they were watching a thriller over a damn small screen cause everyone was fighting to get a better view even tim, who claims that im damn secretive, was rather curious BUT it was yet another futile attempt of looking for some prime "suspect" oh well...
then, it was about time for DND!!! WHEE! cam-whoring and more cam-whoring! jango's turnout was GOOD! and everyone looks so nicely dolled-up! royal plaza on scotts was just as pretty as goodwood park bet everyone had lotsa fun dnd is somewhat like prom somehow it brewed some nostalgic feelings in me and that didnt feel too good tho a few of us left after the event, many stayed over at the hotel for drinking games and more circle of trust
3. sometimes we do "illegal" things us freeloaders *winks it's not that we are rebels we are too led by our emotions it isnt so bad cause we are sensible maybe we just needed an outlet to let off some steam to help us let go of whatever nonsense that's been polluting our heads now i have a pretty hoarse voice in return not too bad a trade-off eh i think it should be quite soon that i can get off this emotional roller coaster and stop pms-ing. lol it's also about time to find someone else or a group of girlies to do "illegal" things with i cant implicate you anymore
4. i know im a self-absorbed person. as testified by geok and shin, i like looking into the mirror, mumble to myself and i'm ignorant to what's happening around me (it's not by choice) somehow, im beginning to think that blogging makes me MORE self-absorbed it's like i whine about my life and only my life sheesh what should i do? :S
5. i've been replaying this song over a million times but like most jay's songs, i cant decipher what he's singing so it's like listening to a nice jap song over and over again heh BUT i took time to search for his lyrics it's a beautiful song just like the movie
watch and sing!

pieces of me
i've got erratic sleeping patterns that's why my poor skin becomes the victim it's incredible how a one hour nap in the afternoon can last me until the wee hours last night, i slept at 4am (gasps!) and woke at 745am, energetic like a duracell bunny for terrifying tax class it was thanks to jo who woke me up with her funny lil surprise. :D i thought i was dreaming when you burst into my room saying that! (*shhhh...) maybe that made a fab start to this fab day! i managed to pay full attention and for once, i felt tax wasnt so bad but i cant explain my relief knowing that it would be the end of tax for the week! hoorays then i hopped back to hall, ready for the second half of a fun-filled day in a short span of 3 hours, bren and i managed to visit the poly, comb the entire westmall for its hottest spots, have a good lunch and shop like two housewives with the behaviour of high school girls whom nearly got knocked down by a car
today at hg801: we got inspired by jane goodall's passion for her research in chimpanzees and how she pursued her dreams and went on to stay in Africa for a good 22years. her determination and commendable efforts led to a breakthrough in the scientific realm. i mean, who would patiently observe the chimps from a dist for 18mths until the animals finally get acquainted with you?
tho time passed way too slowly at work, i was lucky enough to meet a generous alumni who pledged $300 that helped eased the fustration caused by two rude peeps who hung up on me growls
i think a jigsaw has to be one of the most sincere gifts a 1000pieces puzzle would take more than a week and puzzles aint cheap to start with well, i still like making them alot glad i could participate in ur lil project and that we completed it! without missing pieces (:
fact of the day The speed of a raindrop varies with drop size and wind speed. A typical raindrop falls an average of 600 feet per minute, or 7 miles per hour.
still pretty much like a kid, i enjoy playing in the rain. how it makes everything oh so starkly different after the showers it's like awakening from a dream and feeling all fresh again pieces of you dont really wish to wake but you know you cant just stay on the same spot

here goes my rat-a-too-ee craze again! even my wallpaper's the beautiful rata poster! get urs here: i want remy on my deskie
wow! cant believe this thing (the html nonsense) actually works! :D today was a gossip with geok g-w-g day! as well as i love you sistie i-l-u-s day! happy 21st birthday! you will so love my present. heh thanks a zillion trillion bestie! you are always capable of making the moon face light up! anytime, anywhere! today's hit records incl: "let's go to the money changer. oh me? yes you!" "shake that thing. nananana..." (effect can only be achieved with octupus-like dance moves)
sigh. tax class has to be one of the most dreaded things for me. i dont understand why i am just so intimidated by her AND the module it doesnt help that i have to see her twice a week. it's not you really, but me. ): i just need to work doubly hard so that you wont think there's some not-okay kid in ur class
fact of the day: A cow gives nearly 200,000 glasses of milk in her lifetime.
amazing! this means that if i take cereal with milk once every two days for the next 20yrs, i would need about 3600 bowls of milk. a cow would be more than sufficient and a better investment than weekly cartons of marigold, especially so when i dont even take that much cereal. so if i get to stay in a cottage with a big garden, i would keep a cow as a pet. dotty the cow (: it wouldnt moo much or make me jump like how dogs' barkings do. it would pretty much be like my docile terrapins, butts and brocs. no disturbance to others at all. maybe i can do cow-riding even... okie relax friends, im not mad. i wont imprison poor dotty for selfish personal reasons. just a lil bored! let me ramble ok. trying to get control before things start eating me up it seems harder and harder each day i just cant comprehend

a gift
today we talked with a heavy heart let's hope a cooling off period will be good for the both of you hugs
during acct class, we discussed about morals and ethics prof chan highlighted their differences and made us discuss how we would act in diff scenarios i wondered what i would do if i were faced with the pressure to cook the books and the fear of losing my rice bowl and i figured out that i would probably do the right thing cause it's a lose-lose situation i would either be fired for not wanting to adjust the figures or be their scapegoat if things went wrong
some people have the gift of making people feel appreciated even over the phone with a total stranger! human communication and interaction are indeed fascinating i shall learn from these people, to note the name of the caller even if he/she is a stranger
someone gave me a piece of advice it's here and now that we should try things out cause it's the safest and we can fall back on our friends if it doesnt go well. it's true. i hope things are fine for you too cause you didnt appear too good today
Quote of the Day "Things turn out best for those that make the best of the way things turn out." - Art Linkletter sometimes, things dont turn out the way you want them to (chanced upon this quote which i heard several years back but i never knew who said it till today)
Fact of the Day: Rubies and sapphires are made of corundum — the hardest known rock after the diamond.
Joke of the Day: Two redneck guys go on a fishing trip. They rent all the equipment: the reels, the rods, the wading suits, the rowboat, the car, and even a cabin in the woods. They spend a fortune. The first day they go fishing, but they don't catch anything. The same thing happens on the second day, and on the third day. It goes on like this until finally, on the last day of their vacation, one of the men catches a fish. As they're driving home they're really depressed. One guy turns to the other and says, "Do you realize that this one lousy fish we caught cost us fifteen hundred dollars?" The other guy says, "Wow! It's a good thing we didn't catch any more!"

today at HG801: Genie, a modern-day Wild Child Acute social deprivation Genie (not her real name) is a modern-day "wild child" who, until discovery at the age of 13, had lived in a state of severe sensory and social deprivation. Strapped to a potty-chair in her home in Temple City, Los Angeles, California, Genie wasn't taught to speak, and was denied normal human interaction.
Scroll down for The Story of Genie. You can also read more about Genie online in The Civilizing of Genie by Maya Pines, a chapter from Teaching English through the Disciplines: Psychology.
The story of genie On November 4, 1970 a girl was discovered. She had been locked in a room alone for over ten years. She was tied to a potty chair and left to sit alone day after day. At night, she was tied into a sleeping bag which restrained her arms. She was put into an over-sized crib with a cover made of metal screening. Often she was forgotten. On those nights she slept tied to the potty chair.
At first, people could hardly believe that Genie was thirteen years old. While she seemed to understand a few words, the only words she could say were, "stopit" and "nomore." She had a strange bunny-like walk— she held her hands up in front of her like paws and moved in a halting way. She could not chew solid food and could hardly swallow. She spat constantly. She sniffed. She was not toilet-trained and could not focus her eyes beyond 12 feet. She weighed 59 pounds and was 54 inches tall.

i made a promise to myself - to try not to say pass ever again
this is from a chain email. i dislike chain emails and i tend to NOT forward them to my friends cause the messages are usually pointless and i find the "curse" behind ignoring the mails dumb BUT, this one is quite interesting (though i still didnt forward it, risking the 14yrs of bad luck! ba...) i quite believe in horoscopes. actually i was inspired by modelling stories from my cousin his agency strongly believes in it and how it links to our every action apparently, it's compulsory to attend the classes
so here's mine:
SAGITTARIUS - The Happy-Go-Lucky One Good-natured optimist. Doesn't want to grow up (Peter Pan Syndrome). Indulges self. Boastful. Likes luxuries and gambling. Social and outgoing. Doesn't like responsibilities. Often fantasizes. Impatient. Fun to be around. Having lots of friends. Flirtatious. Doesn't like rules. Sometimes hypocritical. Dislikes being confined - tight spaces or even tight clothes. Doesn't like being doubted. Beautiful inside and out.
if only i can just do up a table on which descriptions are true or false.
fact of the day: As much as six percent of the world's population may experience sleep paralysis, the inability to move and speak for several minutes after awakening.

i feel like a freshie. for starters, im trying to cope with returning back to school after a good long break. and today, i miss home alot it doesnt help to think that maybe my folks miss me too since they have been calling me everyday never really had such intense missing home feelings i think im finding a way to run away and today, i actually lost my way around canA cant believe how i did that :S i spent a good whole ten mins trying to figure out my way the maps didnt really help today's just not a blogging day
BUT i really love my malay elective some of the new words i picked up today: 1. otak - brain kepala - head kepala otak = brainless
2. rambut - hair hutan - jungle rambutan = hairy fruit from the jungle
fact of the day: The average human heart beats about 100,000 times every 24 hours. In a 72-year lifetime, the heart beats more than 2.5 billion times.
in a way, i feel a certain sense of relief.
a little creepy crawlie fun: The bumblebee does not die when it stings – it can sting again and again. In bumblebee hives, the entire colony, except for the queen, dies at the end of each summer. Each year, an entirely new colony of bees must be produced.

fact of the day: Only female bees work. Males remain in the hive, their only mission in life being to fertilize the queen bee on her maiden flight. After they have served their function, the males are not allowed back into the hive but are left outside, where they starve to death.

confusion and stress some choices are hard to make. every situation entails a give and take, mutual consessions and compromises. why cant there be the best of both worlds?
nah. not any juicy story. it's just about re-running. before this entire issue started to bug me, i was happily thinking of joining hall production and wsc. it was something new that i have always wanted to try. both of which i have spoken to the committee. (hall prod ppl coming to talk to me at 10 tom) but cries! i can fully understand perry's and abby's worries.
substitute? i'm beginning to not like that word.
fact of the day: When the first escalator, or "inclined elevator," was installed in the department store Harrod's in London (near the turn of the century), brandy was served to passengers who felt faint.
can i also have some brandy? i feel faint! *raises my hand! what great service! our departmental stores should learn from them too! it's been a while. we should rouge and pool soon. i need a break!

personal legend
it's like deja vu. when i finally got down to reading the alchemist on my way home just now, i found myself pondering over the same things Melchizedek said to the boy - our life journey and our dreams. like him, i mentioned that happiness is what we are pursuing in life! read this:
one's personal legend: it's what you have always wanted to accomplish. everyone, when they are young know what their personal legend is. at that point in their lives, everything is clear and everything is possible. they are not afraid to dream, and to yearn for everything they would like to see happen in their lives. but, as time passes, a mysterious force begins to convince them it will be impossible for them to realize their personal legend. ... the soul of the world is nourished by people's happiness. and also by unhappiness, envy, and jealousy. to realize one's destiny is a person's only real obligation. all things are one. the world's greatest lie: at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what's happening to us, our lives become controlled by fate. that's the world's greatest lie.
the old king of salem also told a story to the boy. "a certain shopkeeper sent his son to learn about the secret of happiness from the wisest man in the world. the lad wandered through the desert for forty days, and finally came upon a beautiful castle, high atop a mountain. it was there that the wise old man lived. rather than finding a saintly man, though, our hero, on entering the min room of the castle, saw a hive of activity: tradesmen came and went, people were conversing in the corners...the wise man conversed with everyone, and the boy had to wait for two hours before it was his turn to be given the man's attention. the wise man listened attentively to the boy's explanation to why he had come, but told him that he didnt have time just then to explain the secret of happiness. he suggested that the boy look around the palace and return in two hours. 'meanwhile, i want you to do something. as you wander around, carry this spoon wth you without allowing the oil to spill,' he told the boy after passing him a teaspoon with two drops of oil. after two hours, the boy returned. the wise man asked him if he had seen the persian tapestries hanging in his dining hall, the garden that took the master gardener ten years to create or the beautiful parchments in his library. the embarrassed boy confessed that he had observed nothing. his only concern had been not to spill the oil that the wise man had entrusted to him. the boy was told to 'observe the marvels of my (the wise man's) world.' relieved, the boy picked up the spoon and returned to explore the palace. upon returning, he related in detail everything he had seen. but the drops of oil were gone. so the wise man gave the boy a piece of advice : the secret of happiness is to see all the marvels of the world and never forget the drops of oil on the spoon." after listening to the story, the young shepherd knew that he may like to travel the world, but he should never forget his sheep.
it's like learning the philosophy of life. how intriguing! i suppose my personal legend would be becoming a pediatrician. it's a childhood dream that never got to realise. actually, i carried that ambition all the way through my jc years before i gave up on myself. boohoo. but i know the dream can still be fulfilled, in other ways. after i have saved enough from say ten years of slogging or i have happily become a tai-tai (though that possibilty is rather remote.heh), i could do what i like - helping children, full time.
after visiting grandma, i met shin and jo for movie - secret. "for jo, we will watch the jay chou show!" as claimed by qi, who couldnt make it at the last min! okay, i dont blame you. happy birthday to your gong gong! (: i must say i'm surprised how talented jay chou is since i am no huge fan of his and i didnt even know he had done up his own movie! two thumbs up! fantastic movie! it was similar to the lake house, but better. i like the setting and progression of the story. so as not to spoil the movie for those who intend to watch, i shall not comment further. i must say it is 5 popcorns worthy since 1. i have someone in mind (piano prodigy jer) to intro the movie to and 2.it was a thought-provoking movie. we were all affected after the movie. i couldnt discuss other topics but the movie!
oh yes. i was supposed to provide some insight to "mui and meng" (by geok and jacq)
Act one scene one It was four am in the morning. Mui was lying on her bed, tossing and turning. She flicked open her handphone and played the song “My ex-lover is dead.” She was thinking of Meng. Pictures of their past flashed across her mind. Mui closed her eyes and found herself on a train trundling to London, the magical place where they first met.
Act one Scene two At four am in the morning, Meng woke up with a sneeze. Groaning and sitting up, he scratched his bald head. He looked around. All his bunk mates were sound asleep. Meng then swiped his mucus-stained hands on the bedsheets. As he laid down on his bed, the glint of the photo frame caught his eye. Looking at the lovely form of a girl in a red sweater, his mind began to wander. -interval- The scriptwriter decided to visit la-la land. That’s all folks! 0458h (; Sat 31 March 2007
gosh. it was ages ago when we last wrote. it's high time we do something about it, bestie. -nudge-
fact of the day: The hippopotamus has skin an inch-and-a-half thick, so solid that most bullets cannot penetrate it.
how about a hippo skin bullet vest? oh no. dont make hippos extinct cause of that please. though just one hippo can make many vests.
a zillion thoughts today. hence, the long naggy post. heh but i know i would have less time to blog since school has started. this reminds me that i should be doing tutorials first before blogging. (i need to be a mugger this sem. i can still feel the stress.) see, i still love my blog. i squeeze time to blog as often as i can. and to my readers out there, THANK YOU & STAY TUNED! *blows kisses! simple joys
(12.37pm, saturday) maybe it isnt even substitution. today i woke up thinking that it had all been a fancy dream but im glad i woke. finally. im enjoying the simple joys of life - like spending a friday evening eating chilli crab with my folks makes us all happy.
i used to think that most people spend more than half their lives chasing after fortune, trying to be successful when their definition of success isnt accurate. success doesnt necessarily equate to fame and wealth. i am beginning to think that maybe a wholesome fulfilling life is what everyone is after, even for the never-contented rich and famous. being wealthy only constitutes part of the dream. money is to fund our journey to that dream and a career is to occupy our time by doing something we like. most importantly, happiness is the crucial ingredient to THE life. that's why we use a lot of brain cells figuring out how to achieve that and how to manage all our relationships well. it's true that we are all after love. i can imagine it's the same for the muggers, the workaholics even the old and the sick. it's love that motivates all of us to move on with our life. it doesnt have to come from a desired partner. even if it is a friend or a family member, these relationships count a lot and are already quite a challenge to maintain. somehow, these are the ones that we always take for granted. i am glad that i have my family and friends to stick around through the tough times. it made me appreciate life and learn a lot. i am glad for the way things have turned out. some things happen for a reason. fancy me bringing it up again after oh sooo many years.

good friday
(2.21pm, August 10) i am in dad's car, off to help him out at work! feels like it's going to be a good friday ahead cause it's weekend and i received two good news yest. 1. shin got back a room in hall2 so we can do internal swapping. i feel bad towards ding ding but she's really nice about the whole thing. she even told us to help shift her things. Actually, she's a really nice roomie tho i only spent two nights in hall with her. she's easy-going, vervy chatty and very very neat! hope we can continue to stay in touch. 2. club rainbow finally contacted me after like two months? cant beat those 2 years! heh. and geok's really keen on joining me for the orientation too! double happiness!
another happy thing is tt there's no tuition tonight! and i'm sending edyln on sun which means i dont need to go for work! wonderful wonderful weekend!
grandma called me up to chat a while ago. I hope to visit her tom morning (a surprise!) since i might be meeting mojo tom afternoon, then meeting abby on sun to do edlyn's gift! now, the list of people to meet gets longer and my calender only looks more packed):
grandma, grandpa, belle, suyi, jer, clara, germaine... (havent met all these ppl in a long long while) it's not difficult to get down to doing it.
time and money management. these are two LIFE skills that i have yet to learnt. for starters, it's bad to be always late. setting the time in my phone to be 7 m ins earlier doesnt help. maybe i should change it to 37mins?
for the bored souls, talk to alex the parrot at: http://www.alexfoundation.org/alextheparrot.mov (compliments from HG801)
time for my favourite column! i. fact of the day: It was illegal for women to wear buttons in fifteenth-century Florence.
ohhh. luckily, i dont live in those times. i like buttons! even gingerbread man has buttons. LOL and if shirts and blouses dont come with buttons, it's a tad too plain.
ii. fact of yesterday: There are 40 to 50 million fat cells in the body of an average adult.
Woah. but rest assured guys, there are 10^14 or a hundred trillion cells in the human body which means adipose tissues only constitute about 20%. Oh well, i'd probably increased that percentage with today's overdose of apple-flavoured candy floss. a bit of fats wouldnt hurt right? once in a while, a small sacrifice for good stuff is worth it.

come what may
i have a feeling that i might fall asleep blogging since im feeling so comfortable now, typing in the dark. no matter how sleepy i am and how lil sleep i will have cause of tom's 830 lect (sulks), i NEED to blog. it's a daily routine that i enjoy alot.
first of all, i want to proclaim that new york new york is officially my favourite dining place!!! 100% royalty treatment to all guests: -the staff are ever-ready to refill your glasses, take your orders and clear your plates. -a very amiable bunch of ppl who chats and jokes easily, volunteers to be your photographer and provides free cottoncandy- making lessons. -they have the best birthday surprises. the staff gathered to give jo a heart-shaped cotton candy "cake" with rainbow toppings and they even brought out plastic horns when they sang a birthday song to her! last yr, i had a cute lil dessert. (: birthday surprises are especially nice when it comes from the heart. i think the birthday "gifts" from nyny are self-initiated by the staff since at both occasions, i remembered the waiter replying "I will prepare something on my own." how endearing! they have an excellent working culture! -moreover, the music is doubly good. i like the funky design and spacious layout. -on top of that, there's a pool table! each game is only 2buckaroo!
okie. i keep dozing off.i think i will just cont tom.

count your blessings
i dont have much time to blog. but i have so much to say. gotta cel jo's bday today! whee!
1. HAPPY NAT NAT DAY! 2. A cool friend asked me this question a few months back. "which stage of your life do you love best?" I think it has to be now. My answer surprised her. Sec school was fun and sweet but i dont think i was sensible enough to appreciate life then. alot had happened and some werent too pleasant to count as memories. In JC, it was just about books, playing creative concentration games, making rockets and sneaking food to class. the two years flew past too fast. now, my family's happy and healthy. there's my bestie and close friends to count on when i fuss over minute troubles. (: 3. reliance: i rely alot on the people around me. i still stick to my parents for security, used to follow everything that my sis does and i rely the most on my best friend. i know i gotta quit that and learn to be strong and independant. but i count my blessings to have all these amazing people in my life. gee. i just used point form again.
(language puzzle: the study of the human lang) animals are indeed intelligent. a hummingbird's brain is the size of a grain but it can remember all the flowers it has visited for nectar. likewise, the rat is able to make a mental map and returns to the same place where it got food from. the nutcracker (bird) can remember about 30000 locations where it has hidden nuts. fishes enjoy tickling and brushing against one another. the sea is pretty much alive and full of fun!
fact of the day: On August 12, 1895, Minnie Dean became the first woman to be hanged in New Zealand. Her crime was "baby farming." She would adopt unwanted babies for a certain fee and then dispose of them, a "service" she began in 1889. The police caught on to Minnie after six years and found her to be most certainly guilty when they dug up three bodies of infants in her flower garden.
This is one mad woman! I have always thought of adopting kids (african ones are way cute!) despite strong disapproval from my parents. i can understand their concerns. Would you tell your child he/she is adopted? if so, when is the best time? I still cant find the perfect solution to that.

one-sided
for the hot property steph (who has yet another new scandal *winks), this entry will be in point form. (:
1. i just fell asleep and woke up feeling all fresh again. guess i've just upset my biological clock. and i have 830 class tom!
2. today, i really wanted to blog about alot of stuff but it was better talking than typing. i am always thankful to have you as my bestie. lo lo. xo xo
3. though it's only the first week of school, i feel stressed. i dont exactly know why. maybe it's just the entire add-drop trouble wabble. and work. and busy aug. and. . . 4. i realised that it's this age that we are most troubled by affairs of the heart. attached or single, everyone has their own soap opera. reminds me of that silly show, days of our lives.
5. (ugly betty) "if you were given a choice betw walter and daniel, who would you choose?" i think i've got the answer. it has to be walter. he is definitely less cool but more than willing to give betty his everything and that was all that mattered. dont think i would risk the flirt. sadly, we dont have the accountant guy ( a mister right, a perfect combi of everything ) in real life.
6. then again, maybe there is. it all depends on how you look at it. like how i believe that there is someone for everyone.
7. i am really glad that work ends on 23aug. dont think i will work till oct.
8. these days, i feel that i can be so ignorant. i wish i could be smarter, more aware and more able. then probly, i can multi-task and not use busy as a convenient excuse to not notice that i've been hurting you people. that's why, i know how i cant cope with too many things.
9. currently listening to: come clean, hilary duff
10. fact of the day: Panama, because of a bend in the isthmus, is the only place in the world where one can see the sun rise on the Pacific Ocean and set on the Atlantic.
11. Panama reminds me of Prison Break! i cant wait for season three. this reminds me that i havent continued heroes since. how could i! i hope to visit Panama one day, just to watch the sun rise and set.
12. a part of me wishes that i could be as dare-devil and adventurous as evelyn. though i dont agree with loaning to travel, i admire her gusto and spirit. she would do anything to live her dreams. i dont think i even dare to test my limits. say, i dont even dare to get drunk.
13. i have always been on one side. and the view isnt too good.
this entry is so incoherent and random.

a 5 red cars day
happy family! i am so insanely into my blog that throughout the entire trip i was just thinking of stuff that i can include and taking ALOT of photos until daddy got quite unhappy and eventually, i grew tired of listening to his "again???" so i stopped or rather took fewer when he wasnt noticing. but it was a good trip. though i was pms-ing at the start cause i failed to understand why the aunties and uncles had to push their way through evverreee gantry. it was my first time seeing a group of four (or more?)passing through the customs checkpoint gantry all at the same time. HAHA! as always, mister nice guy daddy had to enlighten me. i realised that the elderly had this fear that they would miss the bus, miss the ferry, be left behind etc. it wasnt so much of kiasu-ism but fear and it is only understandable since they are old and move around considerably slower than most. come to think of it, the busy market scene was kinda cute. i wonder if i would even have the energy and guts to travel aboard when i am their age and moving around would be more of a hassel than a relaxing getaway. kudos to the oldies! then, aging reminds me of aging gracefully which i think is very impt. and today, i met a fine example, tho second to someone whom i have always wanted to model after for how she has wonderfully brought up her kids with so much love that they respect and trust her. (that, another time) this amazing lady is our tour organiser, susan. she's in her 60s but fit as a fiddle, chatty like a hummingbird. she was extremely hyper even at 7am when most of us were still half awake. soon after she had gathered everyone on the bus, she started to entertain us with some introductory talk, jokes and even her random comments. she was a natural. and my, she makes a good CGL! lol. though she's so petite, standing at about 1.5m, her chirpy clear voice can travel miles i swear! curious, i asked what is her secret to her youthful mid forties appearance. "staying happy! organising tours keeps me occupied and happy!" she replied, smiling delightedly. i took a pict with her! and how could i have forgotten our very friendly batam tour guide who was so successful in entertaining us about the culture in batam. i shall upload all the photos at one go. the rest was quite the usual - eating seafood, buying local goodies, visiting temples, shopping but argh... i have two regrets in this trip. i didnt have enough time to buy my white leather-rattan bag with a polka dotted scarf thingy. ( the shopping centre was too big for 2 hrs of shopping time! ): )okay, my description sucks but the bag's really nice and it's only 20plus. cries! the second regret was forgetting the alchemist, it would have made a great companion on the bus when they were all shopping for those local goodies! heh.
fun facts about batam: - The current president built a bridge that joins 6 small islands of Indonesia. The first island is Pulau TonTon and I love how the bridge looks. majestic and beautiful. ' - One of the small islands are on sale now! price= S$5000. i think it's a pretty good investment if you have some business plan in mind. - Head is the most impt part of the body for the indons and muslims. They would pick up a fight with anyone who touches his head. even the barber apologises before he starts with the haircut.
okay. and that's only about batam. if i were to talk about my entire weekend, i think i can write a book! (speaking of which, mark! your bestie seems to owe me a lil sth. hee) then, the few of you who are actually reading (thanks!!) would probly be sleeping by now, given how naggy i am... i still love my blog! whee
fact of the day: Candy made from pieces of barrel cactus was outlawed in the United States in 1952 to protect the species.
oooh. i so love bonbon. carrying a few types of candies in my bag contributes to a 5 red cars day. if you have read curious incident, you would understand why. and today's a 5 red cars day (:

pictures in my head
i still cant quite settle with two changes in my life.
1.start of school 2.a new roomie okay. it's not you but me. i take longer to adjust to changes.
1. i am excited yet apprehensive. firstly it's welcome day. i hope i can do a good job. sx will leave me halfway to attend lessons and i hope it's not during the amazing tour. the freshies and i will just end up in some ulu place and they will see their poor leader desperately calling for help. how unfortunate. but im excited for abc gathering at nus guildhouse. a dinner that costs 1000bucks! ouch. it's half of what cpa sponsors us in a yr ): and i worry about my hectic life when school starts. a five day week! ): and there's phonathon all the way till october which means 2 weekday nights and sun afternoons are burnt for me. anyhow, i had second thoughts about rerunning today. cause it was indeed fun being in abc and i can imagine how a big part of my school life would be void without a cca. a part of me felt it was like an oligation to give back to the cca which has groomed me. BUT i know there are ten zillion better candidates out there and i know i need to focus on my studies else getting a second upper would be even more remote. is that being aware of my limits or being selfish?
2. i didnt expect so much shock when i casually mentioned about my new roomie to a few welcome day goodie packers today. lol. it's not really that bad right? at most, you will hate me for screaming too often or being awake when it's already very late or talking at the top of my voice everytime i open my mouth. if not, i think we will just have a fairly good time together cause i believe you have a mild character like most chinese. we might just get along fine. maybe i'm just worrying too much. we just need to talk more. i cant be too quick to judge.
food for thought: is it bad to be accomodating? you cant provide for everyone all the time. but it's nice how you can teach others how to share more generously.
reading: the alchemist (cause i completed my beloved "must love dogs". woots! i have increased attn span. shall hunt for the movie soon. )
fact of the day: in australia, the number one topping for pizza is eggs. in chile, the favourite topping is mussels and clams. in the united states, it's pepperoni.
for me, it has to be cheese! can never get enough of it then, it's a tie betw pineapples and tomatoes mushrooms come in third (but im not really a huge fan of pizza. wont have pizza cravings like i will crave for cakes, ice cream and all things sweet)
*if only i can add a doodle board to my blog. instead of adopting a virtual pet to hop ard. i wonder if my enthusiasm of blogging will fizzle out one day. i dont like to know that i am someone who does things for the moment tho i think living for the moment is just being optimistic even if it isnt very forward-looking. well, the reason why i am so into blogging now is 'cause i like thinking and reflecting about little things that happen everyday. it's like stopping to smell the flowers along the way. somehow, i feel taking time to blog makes me understand myself better and grow more as a person. it's not only 'cause blogging is fresh to me. that's probably why my entries are soooo long-winded. heh for anyone who's bored, im not out to provide entertainment. this is for rubyred's rambling! woots!
im beginning to think the house is too quiet without you guys screaming for mahjong sessions. have fun in aust! you're missed, berries! maybe it's time i invest in a camera too. there are too many things i wanna keep memory of and the pictures i take in my head dont last.

wanderteen
wanderteen. i saw this word from the papers a few years back. i suppose it's an informal word we use to describe 17yr-olds who roam the streets in the middle of the night. it's not a proper word since i couldnt wiki it. maybe our slang?
wander: mengembara
wanderlust: (n) a strong, innate desire to rove or travel about
i didnt realise that im quite a wanderteen. it was only recently that i began to notice my wanderlust. maybe it's just the rebellious part of me that enjoys the thrill of hanging out late, doing nothing at all. i still remb those countless mustafa nights before school started, us running barefooted in the rain, driving in the carpark etc. we were always happy in threes. (this is not meant to rake up the past) But i believe that though all of us had alot of fun, we were suffering a pang of conscience, like a constant reminder of how much of a 'bad' kid each of us was. i cant quite explain why we felt it was very wrong to stay out late but i knew that i wouldnt approve of such behaviour for my own kids. so what's wrong about hanging out late if you arent mixing with bad company or doing bad things? maybe it's the fact that you know your parents wouldnt like the idea had you told them the truth. or maybe because our parents say that we are more vulnerable to danger when it's late at night... whatever it is, maybe im getting too old for wandering. walking around aimlessly can be both nice and fustrating. company was what mattered most but it was still far better if we had a plan. we could only blame ourselves for the entire night's series of unfortunate events. these days, my indecisiveness and lack of organisation irks me. plans fall through. and it just makes me feel even more silly, knowing that i could have better used my time doing sth more productive. anyhow, i like dizzying twirls, running at lightning speed and being chased out (:
so as you can see, i didnt mambo, didnt party world, didnt chinese garden, didnt follow them at hall camp. but i DID have popeye chicken (YAY!), watched ard the world in 80days and had fun! my beauty sleep had to be sacrificed so today was a challenge of my stamina and concentration. i helped daddy with work and went off to school for work. no luck with the alumni today): plus, i have a new chinese roomie. was upset initially but i knew i was just being mean. she might turn out to be nice and who knows, we might just have a great time! hope i didnt cause a bad first impression. heh. this weekend is sure something to look forward to. sat's super busy (lunch and mark's thingy!) and batam on sun. whee! then school starts on mon!
oh yes yes! im so glad sarah and john anderson got together in the end! i would be very sad if she hadnt pick him or something scared him off again. john was just the right man for sarah. he was a dork in highschool, just like how she was qt a nerd back then. but that makes him geekily cute, smart, dependable and boyishly shy. most of all, he was the only one who truly cared about her.
here's claire cook's view on loneliness and it being a taboo subject in america: i think loneliness trancends marital status and the bonds of family and friendship, and i do think it's a fairly taboo subject in our culture. personally, i think we're all lonely and embarrassingly needy, and spend a good part of our day trying unsuccessfully to fill the vast, gaping emptiness. much of the rest of the day is spent pretending to be less needy than we are. it really is absurd ad darkly funny if you think about it. i dont know that single people are necessarily more lonely than coupled people, though i do think their loneliness is more apparent to the rest of the world, which probably adds a whole extra layer of stress.
fact of the day: The brilliant colours in a hummingbird's feather are created by tiny platelets that resemble a pancake filled with air bubbles. They are called "interference colours" and are much like the shimmering colours seen in a soap bubble or in a drop of oil.
