Genie, a modern-day Wild Child
Acute social deprivation
Genie (not her real name) is a modern-day "wild child" who, until discovery at the age of 13, had lived in a state of severe sensory and social deprivation. Strapped to a potty-chair in her home in Temple City, Los Angeles, California, Genie wasn't taught to speak, and was denied normal human interaction.

Scroll down for The Story of Genie. You can also read more about Genie online in The Civilizing of Genie
by Maya Pines, a chapter from Teaching English through the Disciplines: Psychology.

The story of genie
On November 4, 1970 a girl was discovered. She had been locked in a room alone for over ten years. She
was tied to a potty chair and left to sit alone day after day. At night, she was tied into a sleeping bag which
restrained her arms. She was put into an over-sized crib with a cover made of metal screening. Often she
was forgotten. On those nights she slept tied to the potty chair.

At first, people could hardly believe that Genie was thirteen years old. While she seemed to understand a
few words, the only words she could say were, "stopit" and "nomore." She had a strange bunny-like walk—
she held her hands up in front of her like paws and moved in a halting way. She could not chew solid food
and could hardly swallow. She spat constantly. She sniffed. She was not toilet-trained and could not focus
her eyes beyond 12 feet. She weighed 59 pounds and was 54 inches tall.

i made a promise to myself - to try not to say pass ever again

this is from a chain email.
i dislike chain emails and i tend to NOT forward them to my friends cause the messages are usually pointless
and i find the "curse" behind ignoring the mails dumb
BUT, this one is quite interesting (though i still didnt forward it, risking the 14yrs of bad luck! ba...)
i quite believe in horoscopes.
actually i was inspired by modelling stories from my cousin
his agency strongly believes in it and how it links to our every action
apparently, it's compulsory to attend the classes

so here's mine:

SAGITTARIUS - The Happy-Go-Lucky One
Good-natured optimist. Doesn't want to grow up (Peter Pan Syndrome). Indulges self. Boastful. Likes luxuries and gambling. Social and outgoing. Doesn't like responsibilities. Often fantasizes. Impatient. Fun to be around. Having lots of friends. Flirtatious. Doesn't like rules. Sometimes hypocritical. Dislikes being confined - tight spaces or even tight clothes. Doesn't like being doubted. Beautiful inside and out.

if only i can just do up a table on which descriptions are true or false.

fact of the day:
As much as six percent of the world's population may experience sleep paralysis, the inability to move and speak for several minutes after awakening.

each footstep is a new love letter ♥
