wanderteen
wanderteen. i saw this word from the papers a few years back. i suppose it's an informal word we use to describe 17yr-olds who roam the streets in the middle of the night. it's not a proper word since i couldnt wiki it. maybe our slang?

wander: mengembara

wanderlust: (n) a strong, innate desire to rove or travel about

i didnt realise that im quite a wanderteen. it was only recently that i began to notice my wanderlust. maybe it's just the rebellious part of me that enjoys the thrill of hanging out late, doing nothing at all. i still remb those countless mustafa nights before school started, us running barefooted in the rain, driving in the carpark etc. we were always happy in threes. (this is not meant to rake up the past) But i believe that though all of us had alot of fun, we were suffering a pang of conscience, like a constant reminder of how much of a 'bad' kid each of us was. i cant quite explain why we felt it was very wrong to stay out late but i knew that i wouldnt approve of such behaviour for my own kids. so what's wrong about hanging out late if you arent mixing with bad company or doing bad things? maybe it's the fact that you know your parents wouldnt like the idea had you told them the truth. or maybe because our parents say that we are more vulnerable to danger when it's late at night... whatever it is, maybe im getting too old for wandering. walking around aimlessly can be both nice and fustrating. company was what mattered most but it was still far better if we had a plan. we could only blame ourselves for the entire night's series of unfortunate events. these days, my indecisiveness and lack of organisation irks me. plans fall through. and it just makes me feel even more silly, knowing that i could have better used my time doing sth more productive. anyhow, i like dizzying twirls, running at lightning speed and being chased out (:

so as you can see, i didnt mambo, didnt party world, didnt chinese garden, didnt follow them at hall camp.
but i DID have popeye chicken (YAY!), watched ard the world in 80days and had fun!
my beauty sleep had to be sacrificed so today was a challenge of my stamina and concentration. i helped daddy with work and went off to school for work. no luck with the alumni today): plus, i have a new chinese roomie. was upset initially but i knew i was just being mean. she might turn out to be nice and who knows, we might just have a great time! hope i didnt cause a bad first impression. heh. this weekend is sure something to look forward to. sat's super busy (lunch and mark's thingy!) and batam on sun. whee! then school starts on mon!

oh yes yes! im so glad sarah and john anderson got together in the end! i would be very sad if she hadnt pick him or something scared him off again. john was just the right man for sarah. he was a dork in highschool, just like how she was qt a nerd back then. but that makes him geekily cute, smart, dependable and boyishly shy. most of all, he was the only one who truly cared about her.

here's claire cook's view on loneliness and it being a taboo subject in america:
i think loneliness trancends marital status and the bonds of family and friendship, and i do think it's a fairly taboo subject in our culture. personally, i think we're all lonely and embarrassingly needy, and spend a good part of our day trying unsuccessfully to fill the vast, gaping emptiness. much of the rest of the day is spent pretending to be less needy than we are. it really is absurd ad darkly funny if you think about it. i dont know that single people are necessarily more lonely than coupled people, though i do think their loneliness is more apparent to the rest of the world, which probably adds a whole extra layer of stress.

fact of the day:
The brilliant colours in a hummingbird's feather are created by tiny platelets that resemble a pancake filled with air bubbles. They are called "interference colours" and are much like the shimmering colours seen in a soap bubble or in a drop of oil.

currently singing to:
