today's indeed a jolly jolly day!

we should all learn to embrace the fact that singapore's a nanny-state and probably, will always be one. we are spoon-fed from the first day we are born and it has gradually become a part of us to be reliant. over-reliance is unhealthy. but im starting to think that the govt made us this way and it really isnt so bad. we have sheltered walkways from our doorstep to bus stops/next most-assessed place, we are protected from all things "harmful" with an abundance of censorship laws and harsh punishments for law-offenders. in school, information is dished out on a plate and standard career pathways all laid out. that's why, if we were ever left on our own, to find our own solutions or required to use our brains a bit, we get all worked up and panicky. well, that's an exaggeration.

what i wanted to say is how blessed we are that we are still in school, to have our welfare taken care of by endearing professors. to think that we are already full-fledged adults and yet have concerned teachers fuss over our lives came as quite a surprise, a pleasant one. today, i accompanied a worried friend who was contemplating a change of course from acct to biz and it was like bumping into the devil who's been speaking in ur head! her worries were exactly like mine but thankfully, we had a chance to speak to prof choo and were prevented from doing anything rash. we were very much enlightened by his sincere advice. THANKEW PROF! and there's very sweet Moira Khaw whom i still deeply respect a lot. even though her teaching method isnt one that a rigid rote-learner like me can appreciate, her passion and concern for us cant be doubted! YAY! NBS has wonderful profs! :D
