wash away the weariness
one of the many doctors i visited when i was much younger, told me that he shampoos only once a week cause one shouldnt wash away the natural oils that the scalp secretes and it's only healthier that way. i would say that it's not that disgusting really, for he's in his early fifties (i guesstimate la..) and you should understand that he has to take more preventive measures to retain the few strands he has left. i hate aging but that's beside the point.

sahara desert (my stuffy room in hall) made me shower thrice within half a day! once in the afternoon, then after the forum and an hr ago. it's record-breaking! and mm lee kuan yew mentioned at today's ministerial forum that the implications of this climate change is very much a growing concern. we are indeed suffering from the erratic weather patterns. *prays that our climate will be so topsy-turvy that maybe singapore will snow someday. bah.. it's just a random thought okie...

and so i was sleeping on bren's bed, (hoping that i could conc better when i migrate to their room but i obviously ended up sleeping again) soaking in my own perspiration. ewwwie. but im so thankful to have wendy and shin to drag me out of bed and psycho me to shower again, else i will never be near completion for co law assignment which is due by 5pm, TWELVE hours from now. GOSH!

im gonna hurry back to it!

sigh.

i always thought im quite a driven person. but as i got to understand myself better, i become increasingly disappointed. like why dont i do certain things the way i should and why cant i be as talented/aware as everyone else? it's sucha highschool kinda agony. like only highschoolers worried about these huh? well, i did and it's coming back to me again. i cant help it. as a tertiary student (or someone at the brink of tasting adulthood), it seems like you should have cultivated a habit to be updated about current affairs and an interest of that sort. but it's pretty much not the case for me. and it's sad.
i was at the ministerial forum for the sake of being there. bigcries. what i took back was far lesser than the rest. and i cant help but feel sad for myself. am i really only into shoes, desserts and all things fun? i really should take a concious effort to read up, lest i wanna end up feeling even more sorry for myself when i enter the workforce and have difficulties engaging in intellectual small talks with colleagues, big bosses and clients.

i have become so laid-back and way too happy-go-lucky. it's bad to just settle for average. i know i wasnt like this back in primary and sec school. i got better results back then and i always pushed myself to achieve more. but i no longer have that drive to stretch myself. i can accept mediocre (or rather, below average for now ): ) grades and i study for the sake of securing an accting job in future. it doesnt help that my parents pamper/trust me so much that they dont set standards for me anymore. on the contrary, they sometimes ask me to pon less impt lessons and invite me to their movie dates/shopping trips and whatnot. dont get me wrong. i dont blame my parents and i love hanging out with them. it's just that i half-wished that there was someone to scold me and give me wake-up calls that jolt me back to reality and remind me that this harsh harsh world requires me to have certain qualities that i dont already own. and i realised, that person has to be me. i cant ask anyone to save me if i cant even save myselfit's about time i redefine my goals and set my direction right. HA!

today, i actually had a freshie question me "what are you getting yourself into jacq???" before i throw myself into this negativity of being an acct, yet again. i should stop being envious of biz students who have so much time on hand that they can actually feel bored. i will start reminding myself that i should really follow through with my choice and prove to myself that i can do it. so just do it.
right now, contemplating whether i regret my choice or not is way too unhelpful. it's the last thing i wanna think about. and in many ways, i am my own foe.
oh yes, i realised that i quite missed castor/jango today, after bumping into alex. im sorry that i've been quite detached. i hope everyone's still as bonded and happy as before :D

p.s. to my best-froggie who calls me a lizard (zoompiak around the glasswindows of splendid natnat lib), the password thing wasnt intended to sound that way..
"and i wander through fiction to look for the truth" this line is from my current fav song - before it's too late, goo goo dolls

fact of the day:
The two hemispheres of a dolphin's brain work independently. For 8 hours, the entire brain is awake. The left side then sleeps for 8 hours. When it wakes up, the right side sleeps for 8 hours. Thus, the dolphin gets 8 hours of sleep without ever having to stop physically.

a little bad-weather fun:
Living creatures create tiny weather systems called microclimates in their nests and burrows. For instance, bees fan their wings at the hive entrance during hot weather. This makes a cooling draft blow through the hive.

newsfeed for the day:

AN UNSTABLE Myanmar is a time-bomb in the region, said Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew on Thursday night.
That is why Asean - and in turn, Singapore, which is at the heart of the South-east Asian regional body - must try its best to 'help stabilise Myanmar', he said. 'Asean leaders realise that if we have volatile and unstable neighbours, they will destabilise the whole region,' he told the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Students' Union ministerial forum.

This explains the common reaction from Asean leaders, foreign ministers, presidents and prime ministers of 'sorrow and revulsion' that Myanmar's generals had used armed force against monks and civilians who were demonstrating peacefully against their economic deprivations, he said.

Said Mr Lee: 'Asean leaders know that if the situation in Myanmar continues to deteriorate, there must come a breaking point when much more brutal force will again be necessary to put their people down.'
The founding father of Singapore brought up the issue of Myanmar - which he said 'looks troublesome' - to make the point that Singapore is situated in a volatile region.
