dont forget the simple joys
before stepping out of the house, i chanced upon a book "image quotient" by suzanne, on tim's side of the table. i only had a chance to scan through the review and the first two pages. but a prose in the intro started me thinking. (i wish i didnt have the memory of a goldfish so i could remember the entire thing and quote it for you here. it was basically about how important it is to upkeep one's image and how that leads to elegance etc.)
i used to think that anyone who cares excessively about their image would be related to being superficial/ vain etc. not that one shouldnt care at all but being too image-conscious was perceived to be unhealthy and a tad shallow. i mean, i always didnt like myself being so self-concious and i dont see myself as a confident person yet i do not approve of those who go through so much pains just to want to look good when they actually dont have anything wrong with themselves. geez. it's sorta outta point. but oh wells, i realised i am so wrong! it's okay to want to look good cause looking good stems from feeling good about yourself as well as being confident and happy too. and so i have learnt from a brief reading of suzanne's that having a high image quotient can be really crucial in many aspects of our lives, especially in building a good first impression and that first impressions are no doubt important cause we can never have a second chance to re-create one. i also saw a survey on how three different factors contribute to one person's first impression of another person. since i think i'm better at remembering numbers than at words, i think the statistics were something like this:
Dressing - 54%
Something else i cant remember - 39%
What you say - 7%

image is important.
but loving yourself is too.

i shall steal the book from tim when i return home sometime next week.
and geez.
this gives everyone an excuse to dress-up and look good! (:

Trying to grow,
making my way down that long winding road
Had no reason, no rhyme
Like a song out of time

food facts for today:
On food, writer Barbara Costikyan notes, "In the childhood memories of every good cook, there's a large kitchen, a warm stove, a simmering pot, and a mom."

Once an orange is squeezed or cut, the vitamin C dissipates quickly. After only 8 hours at room temperature or a scant 24 hours in the refrigerator, there is a 20 percent vitamin C loss.
